While â€œTime Shipâ€ can be read simply as a story, the book is not intended to be an â€œIndiana Jonesâ€ type action thriller. Instead it attempts to focus on some of the scientific implications that might accompany time travel, as well as to challenge the reader to consider the difficult subject of predestination and free will. The book does not provide â€œanswersâ€ to these questions. Rather it challenges you, the reader, to consider them for yourself as the story unfolds. At the same time, â€œTime Shipâ€ combines the subject of time travel with elements of an old-fashioned mystery, and a large portion of the book is designed to reveal how all the various elements come together.
