Sumie painting (Japanese Culture Book 7)
In the orient, when we use a fude (brush) to write letters, it usually is long and the end pointed. Using this type of fude, by covering it in ink one can draw both thin and bold lines. Even if there is little ink, called "sumi" on the fude, one can paint an interesting "kasure", or faded, misty style. It is my pleasure to introduce to you about 80 Sumie paintings by Ohkubo Fuhkoh. Many of her pictures are seldom known and are like buried treasures. You will learn to understand these interesting and subtle lines using oriental fude. I hope you enjoy seeing them. +++All profits from sales will be donated to the victims of the East Japan Earthquake.+++
