Schizoid personality disorder - Insight into the characteristics in experience and behavior: A book for affected persons and their loved ones
At least one out of one hundred adults has a schizoid personality disorder
People with schizoid tendency often appear solitary, introverted and not very emotional. For many, interest in human contact is reduced and social encounters are stressful. Frequently, broad social withdrawal considerably limits the range of possibilities in their private and professional lives. In the medium term, psychological consequences such as depression, anxiety and addiction may result from schizoid personality disorder. Somewhat simplistically stated: When several schizoid tendencies present themselves in an affected person with a certain intensity and result in burdensome limitations in that person's professional and/or private life, this is called a schizoid personality disorder.
This book is neither a reference book that meets scientific standards nor a manual that presents explicit advice on how to deal with the disorder. Rather, it provides a collection of consolidated information about various aspects of schizoid personality disorder itself, and also about how this disturbance has an impact on certain areas of life - for example, career, partnership and friendship.
These texts are intended to give an insight into the subjective experience and behavior of people with schizoid personality disorder. As a result I am trying to work out typical features that may occur in people affected by the disorder without producing overly simplistic "stereotypes." It is important to me to be clear that for all the possible commonalities, the individual characteristics can nonetheless be very different, and the affected person can be nowhere near fully understood through the diagnosis. Ideally, people with schizoid personality disorder will have frequent "That's just like me!" moments while reading, but also often think "That's different for me!". These insights are intended to provide an understanding of schizoid personality disorder, thus giving affected persons and their loved ones a better (self)understanding.
Please note the following tips before purchasing:
By now the text has reached a total length that is no longer convenient to read in a web browser. The e-book format offers significantly more comfort when reading.
By publishing this e-book I hope for more coverage of my content in order to inform more people about schizoid personality disorder.
Last, but not least: I run the website part time, and the advertising on the site and my counselling work do not cover the costs. With the purchase of this book you will contribute to the further development of the website and my counselling services.
Note: Please note that some information in this book refers to models that only apply in the Federal Republic of Germany and which are only partially applicable in other countries. This is especially true for the chapter on severe disability.
