He also had a presiding influence on the national crime commission which meted out hits, distributed territory among rival Mafia families and conducted general supervision. Funzi was also called The Old Man and Fanzuolo. An appealing mobster, even among some law enforcement officials, Funzi was likely the model for the character The Godfather character Don Corleone.
