Domenico Ghirlandaio (The Library of Great Masters)
Domenico Bigordi, better known as Ghirlandaio, was born in Florence in 1449. His most well-known and celebrated works are the cycle of frescoes executed around 1480 in the Sassetti Chapel at Santa Trinita with the Stories of St. Francis, and between 1486 and 1490 the Stories of the Virgin and St. John the Baptist in the Cappella del Coro of Santa Maria Novella. Domenico Ghirlandaio examines Ghirlandaio's works, and the influences on them of Alesso Baodovinetti, Verrocchio, among others.
