There are several Cold hardy banana trees that are able to grow in cooler Zones than usual. One Species will survive down to -5F degrees/ While the leaves will be damaged or destroyed by freezing weather, the roots will survive and grow new shoots the following spring. You can also grow Cold hardy Eucalyptus, yes like the ones the Koala bears eat. I have a 20 footer at my home in TN.
