BALLS: A Story of Castration of Men Who Cheat On Their Wives
BALLS takes place in 1990's Orlando, Florida. It reflects the period's social upheaval concerning women's place, and rapidly changing matrimonial mores. Older, traditional women more and more often found themselves abandoned after decades of marriage by philandering, middle-aged husbands susceptible to the freewheeling sexual climate of the time as propelled by promiscuous younger women and a lessening of censure against betraying one's spouse. A group of such women led by psychiatrist Star Mobley and calling themselves The Castoffs, find an ingenious way to exact revenge. Their methods are bloody and violent, but not murderous. The revenge they exact is gruesome, but in their minds fitting to the crime. They seek to eradicate an epidemic of infidelity in their midst, an epidemic that steals happiness and ruins families. They provide the perpetrators with a permanent reminder of a lesson learned: Cheaters will be punished. Cheaters will be stopped. Betrayal of trust is also explored in the light of child sexual abuse and the psychotic turmoil it creates in the victim, Junior, one of Star's patients. His behavior, culminating in revenge is chilling, ghastly and macabre. BALLS is sometimes light, sometimes dark, sometimes fun and sometimes horrifying. It treats serious subjects in a dramatic, fictional format, as its protagonists seek to find an answer to stop a socially degrading "contagious" epidemic.
