Atlas of the Armenian Genocide
The United Nations adopted "The Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide" on December 9, 1948. According to it, genocide is defined as an international crime and all the participating countries are required to prevent and punish it. The fact of the Armenian Genocide, carried out by the Turks, is demonstrated by hundreds of scientific and analytical works, by the memoirs of foreign political, military, religious, and cultural figures, as well as archival materials and eyewitnesses' testimonies. The Atlas of the Armenian Genocide is dedicated to this most tragic period of the Armenian history, as well as the preceding and subsequent processes. In spite of the large amount of information, we aimed at representing it briefly and at the same time, covering the most important issues. The work comprehensively summarizes important events concerning the Armenian Genocide and all the necessary generalizations have been made. The Atlas includes historical maps, explanatory texts, historical photos related to the given period and a map index. The sections "The Process of the International Recognition and Condemnation of the Armenian Genocide" and "Documents and Photos" form separate parts. The work starts with the map of "The Armenian Highlands" and the text "The Armenian Highlands as Cradle of the Armenian People"; then the Armenian Genocide is presented through numerous maps, pictures, and texts that cover wars, territorial changes, negotiations, assemblies, pogroms, deportations, self-defense battles, political projects, etc. The consequences of the Armenian Genocide, the cultural genocide and new forms of genocidal policy implemented by Turkey and Azerbaijan are also touched upon in this work. We strongly believe that the Atlas of the Armenian Genocide will make an important contribution to the process of the international recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.
