Interesting, purposive and excellent articles and chapters on the struggles and resolution of the aborigine’s people integration into Queensland and Australia’s majority culture exist. Sadly, hardly veiled political discourses also exist and pass as guides proffered as panaceas. The result is discord and without a solution in-sight, or in mind. The larger problem of indigenous folks who are left without identification of problems, solutions offered, and ultimately dilemmas is not viable. Complacency toward collisions of culture, and ecological-ethological niches left unidentified and unsolved engender violence and discord as acceptable. Indigenous Australians experience disenfranchised losses in their assimilation and accommodations to the larger societal influences in an urbanized modern society. In part, disenfranchised losses in some instances are internal fractures from their own tribal leadership. Also, disenfranchisement of Aborigine Officers from their own cultural identity, colonization and the explosion of the newest technological advances without time to assimilate and accommodate to such quantum moments intra-psychically result in deleterious consequences.
Four cultures: Aborigine; Queensland; Police; and Civilian are in need of a humane approach which values cultural competence – to such a reader this guide is relevant, useful, and broad enough to clinically educate participants and observers of such struggles and challenges toward humane solutions. Dr. Rudofossi’s Eco-Ethological Existential framework is a unique undertaking sui generis between the authors – a novel approach where dialogue is tempered with conservation of culture, totems and taboos of the indigenous folk and the larger culture they perforce assimilated and accommodate too: Sgt. Moloney learnt Dr. Rudofossi, retired Sgt. NYPD’s Eco-Ethological Existential Analytic approach in an extensive learning experience in NYC. and applies his method as peer support officer. The result is gaining novel insights into Complex trauma and grief Australia’s first peoples, and especially those descended from the first Australians experience as police. In an amenable collaborative decision, it was given Cop Doc Rudofossi the task of being the scribe throughout this book as author who has written this book based on the interviews and enormous field research shared between Sgt. Moloney and him. Areas of clinical, research and applied methods of forensic and police psychology/psychiatry are within the expert domain of Dr. Rudofossi and guided by his leadership, Sgt. Moloney as field experimenter garnered realism and experience.
